Sewing With Friends

You know what's even better than a day hanging out in my sewing room? Hanging out in my sewing room with a friend! Sure it gets a little awkward and cramped at times in my little room, but for all the fun, fellowship and laughter that happens it is well worth it!

A couple days ago I had my friend Jess over for most of the day and we had a blast. Jess got to finish off the bag I'd been helping her with (forgot to take pictures so they'll have to wait) and start on the first of two matching patchwork cushion covers she is making for her sister.

Jess is pretty new to the sewing world and so we've been trading lessons with each other. We get together most weeks, sometimes at my house for a sewing lesson, sometimes she gives me a riding lesson on her lovely horse Danny, and sometimes we just hang out. It's been such great fun and we're both learning new skills, win-win! Earlier in the year we were at Spotlight together and I was buying some fun dinosaur fabric to make myself a pair of crazy pants, Jess thought it would be fun to also make some crazy pants and so we bought some cloud fabric for her and went to it! Jess is now on her third project and is not slowing down. This sewing business is addictive!

Next time Jess comes over she'll be quilting her cushion cover and putting a back on it. I'm really loving the colours she picked out and hope her sister likes them as much as me.

Happy quilting!
