Cornrow Quilt

I haven't been able to make it into my sewing room recently what with work, housework and just general life getting in the way, how inconvenient! Hopefully I'll be able to get to my sewing machine more frequently and have more things to show you all.

A couple of weeks ago I decided I needed to get a quick and easy quilt happening along side my bugs and flowers. There is just something very satisfying about getting a quilt top done in just a couple of days, even if it's an easy one. And so, after a couple of days of colour choosing, cutting, piecing, trimming, and then more piecing I had a quilt top ready to go!

I decided on a corn row quilt as I hadn't made one before and it was a good example of something you can make with those simple half-square triangles I wrote about in previous posts. Now I just need to decide how I'm going to quilt it. I could just do some straight line quilting or stitch in the ditch, however I think this quilt will make a good practice canvas for me to try out some more free-motion quilting.

After just about breaking my back from bending over my much too low cutting table to trim all 104 of my half square triangles, I pieced them all together and am really quite happy with how it has turned out.

This was such a quick and easy quilt top to put together, now I just need to find the time to sandwich and quilt it! I plan on writing a tutorial on how to put together this quilt top too, so make sure you check back in for that post in the following weeks. Till then, happy quilting!
