Free-Motion Practice with Angela Walters
I'm sure many of you would have already heard of Angela Walters. She's a fabulous quilter, has a few classes on Craftsy, hosts The Midnight Quilt Show on Youtube, as well as her own personal channel, and posts regularly on her blog http://www.quiltingismytherapy.com/ Recently Angela has been running a Free Motion Quilting Challenge, uploading instructional videos of different free motion designs each week for less accomplished quilters such as myself to learn and practice.
This challenge has been going on for a number of weeks now, however I only started on it a couple days ago, which was great as I got to try out all the designs without have to wait impatiently each week for the next video. While many of my designs could certainly do with a lot of practice, I have loved trying them all out and am very happy with my first attempts.
So here it is so far. Although I've done all of the designs in Angela's quilting challenge, I still have another three rows of blocks to be quilted. In these blocks I'm going to try some more free motion designs or maybe combine some of the ones I've already tried into single blocks. My serpentine lines and feathers could do with a lot of work, however I am very happy with my stippling, leafy meander, ruler work, and wish bones.
I plan on writing a tutorial post for this quilt soon for anyone who would like to make an easy, but still fun quilt to practice their piecing and quilting, so stay tuned for that. Also coming up I've got a super fun dinosaur quilt that I've been working on.
Happy quilting!
