Bibs and More
Baby sewing is still underway here. Progress has been a little slower than I'd like however, as I've been busy with so many other things. Since my last post I've had a couple long distance trips, including one down to Melbourne to see The Cursed Child. Well worth the trip! Not to mention I've had my sister and her family stay for a few days as well. And then even when I have been home and free, on days that's I've felt up to it, I've been out in my backyard trying to get some garden beds dug up for a veggie patch before my belly gets too big to move.
Still, there has been some sewing in between all my other doings. I have a small stack of nappy covers now, with some more still to make. I have altered my pattern a number of times now until I feel I can definitely call it my own. This is one made with my current pattern.
Here's a line up of nappies half made, ready for their gussets and for everything to be sewn together with the fold-over-elastic around the edges.
I have also just started on some bibs for the baby. Here I am using the free baby bandanna bib pattern by Sweet Red Poppy. I'm making the newborn and 6-12 month sizes, skipping over the 3-6 month size. What I particularly love about these bibs is the cost to both me and the environment. I'm making them with one layer each of flannelette and towelling. The flannelette was given to me by my sister who no longer needs baby prints and the towels were from a friend and otherwise destined for the op-shop. So all that was purchased new for these is the thread and snaps that will fasten them around the neck.
Time to go and sew up these bibs I have pinned in the picture before I have to leave for work this afternoon. I'll post some completed bibs for you to see soon.
Happy Sewing.
