Evangeline’s Garden

This quilt has been a long time in the making, but it is finally finished! Although it is for my daughter, Evangeline, I started work designing and making it well before she was even thought of! I really love all the different blocks and colours throughout this quilt, it's just so much fun to look at. There were many, many hours spent trying to decide which blocks to make, and then even more hours spent deciding on all the fabrics for each block as well. I think it was worth it though. I love how this quilt has turned out and I hope Evangeline will grow to love it too.

This quilt is designed and made entirely by me. The appliques were hand drawn, then hand appliqued. The blocks were pieced by machine and the quilting done on my domestic machine. The quilting is a combination of ruler quilting and free motion quilting, I really love combing the two as you can really do anything you like with rulers and free motion. I tried hard to use up some of my scrap collection with this quilt, and though a lot of the blocks were made entirely from scraps, the scrap containers don't seem to have emptied at all!

My beautiful little girl was born last December and has since been making her way through life in the cutest way possible. I can't wait until she's big enough to start learning to sew.

But for now she's happy just playing on her play mat nearby while Mummy sews. Well, sometimes anyway. Often she demands all of my attention (as babies do), making it sometimes difficult to get any sewing done. But it is finally complete and I already have my next quilt underway!

Make sure you come back soon to see what's happening next in my sewing room. I will have updates on my next quilt that I've already started and there is also a half-rectangle triangle tutorial on the way.

Happy Quilting!
