Crazy Chicken Cushion
As I mentioned in my last post, I have recently made a chicken cushion, a crazy chicken cushion. One of my nieces has a birthday coming up just before Christmas, and while I had her Christmas present sorted already (a trip to the zoo with all the cousins), I was completely stumped as to what to get for this child who wants and needs nothing, and is really only interested in her family of chickens, for a birthday present.
So then I thought, well, you’ve been wanting to make a chicken quilt for a while, so why not draw one up now as a start and make her a cushion? So that’s what I did. Funnily enough my Mum, who was also stuck on what to get her, had also just thought that she might make her a chicken cushion! So I’m not sure what she’s doing now, sorry Mum!
Now, in case you couldn’t guess from her only interest being in her chickens, Millie is a little on the unusual, bordering on the slightly crazy, side and so I tried to work some of her essence into my chicken. And I must say, I think I’ve done a good job of channeling some Millie energy! After the chicken was done, I thought I’d add a little more embellishment to the cushion by quilting some fun feathers as well. These feathers are a little on the wobbly side as I am a little out of practice, but still add the fun effect that I was going for.
All in all I am very pleased with how this project has turned out and I hope Millie likes it as much as I do. Now I just need to figure out some more chickens for a quilt. Sadly that might have to wait for a bit though while I work on a few other projects.
Till next time,
Keep On Stitching!
